World Choir for Peace

We are a new choir that brings together singers from all over the world.

Our goal is to bring about a culture of peace through singing together, both as individuals and as part of our choral community, which is growing from project to project. We have only one planet and our common aspiration should be to honour it and treat all of its creatures with care. This will help us to have a secure future that is not shaped by heat and drought, by storms and floods, by violence, terror and wars.

'Peaceful Choir' album in collaboration with SONY CLASSICAL

In March 2020, before the lockdown, we managed to record our first album in 360 audio reality format 'Peaceful Choir'. In collaboration with Sony Classical with the selection of pieces focusing on works by 20 renowned contemporary composers from around the world. Many of these inspirational composers have created new pieces in collaboration with us and Sony to support our project.

This is a new and very exciting project for me and is something that I feel very strongly about, I am able to do something positive and productive in a crazy start to the year. I hope that you find some comfort in this first virtual message from the World Choir for Peace... 'I Hope' a WCP virtual message to the world.

The Chamber Choir of Europe sang with composer John Rutter at the European Festival of Church music.

2018

At the end of September, I was privileged to be part of the Chamber Choir of Europe, under Nicol Matt, as they joined the world renowned American choral composer and conductor, Morten Lauridsen, in concerts and workshops in Würzburg, Mannheim, Bad Urach, Hamburg and Leipzig.

Workshops and Concerts in Germany with Morten Lauridsen (USA),

Nicol Matt and the Chamber Choir of Europe

We performed compositions such as ‘O Magnum Mysterium’, ‘Sure on this Shining Night’ and ‘Dirait-on’ from his collection ‘Les Chansons des Roses’, all now available on CD from Deutsche Grammophon under the title, 'Light Eternal'.

In March last year, my first composition 'Ave Maris Stella' for female choir was premiered by the St Mary's Singers in Glastonbury, England.

The German National Choir Competition in Freiburg took place in May. My a cappella group Bar Nineteen had a blast, and here is a clip of us on the Freiburg tram :-)

2017

It was a busy year with many projects that I was really proud to be part of. One of the many highlights for me was performing and recording with one of the greatest contemporary composers Morten Lauridsen and the Chamber Choir of Europe. This took place ein Kufstein, Austria. With great anticipation the latest  Chamber Choir of Europe CD with Music from Morten Lauridsen will be released under Deutsche Grammophon in February 2018.

Under the direction of Nicol Matt, the fantastic musicians of the Chamber Choir of Europe.

2017

Another wonderful moment was when my cappella group bar nineteen won the Bavarian Choir Competition in our category plus being put through to the German National competition in Freiburg in May 2018!

This was a wonderful end to 2017, and a memorable moment for bar nineteen as we have singing together for 16 years and all the hard work has paid - very proud of you guys!
